Marianne   Co~ Owner

Marianne began dancing at the age of six and won her first national competition as a soloist at age twelve. As a young dancer, she had the opportunity to perform with celebrities and travel throughout the Western United States to compete. At sixteen, she traveled to Japan to participate in an international competition and was selected as a youth choreographer to represent her company.

She continued to train throughout high school while also competing with her school’s drill team, where she was elected Drill Mistress. In this leadership role, she collaborated with other team leaders to choreograph and clean routines. At age fifteen, Marianne taught her first class of

three-year-olds and hasn’t stopped teaching since.

Now with over 30 years of experience, Marianne continues to direct a studio, choreograph for high school drill teams, and clean routines—many of which have earned national recognition. She earned a minor in dance from Utah State University and began judging competitions at age twenty. Her judging experience includes events across Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and California, including

national-level competitions. Most recently, she was invited to judge the

Miss Idaho Pageant—a new and enjoyable challenge in her judging career.

Though dance is a lifelong passion, Marianne’s greatest joy comes from her family. She is a wife, mother of five (four boys and one girl), and now also a mother-in-law to two newly welcomed daughters-in-law. She currently co-owns R&M Dance Studios, teaches speech and language in the public school system, and has returned to graduate school to pursue her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

As a studio owner, Marianne believes that participation in dance helps children develop creativity, physical fitness, mental well-being, and essential teamwork and social skills. Dance builds life skills such as discipline, perseverance, and respect for others. She strives to provide these benefits in a family-friendly, modest, and age-appropriate environment. Her passion for what dance offers youth is what fuels her continued commitment to the dance community in Cache Valley.

Maile ~ Instructor

Maile started dancing at the age of 4 where she began her love for dance. She danced throughout her childhood and made the High School Drill Team. During her time on drill she was the team Drill Maiden for 2 years and Captain her senior year. Over that time Maile learned that she loved to choreograph routines. She choreographed her own solos and competed them and helped others on her team choreograph and polish solos and duets. When she was 14 she took a group of inexperienced high school teachers and taught them a dance to do at the Homecoming assembly and knew that being a dance instructor was in her future for the long haul! Maile has taught at studios in Salt Lake and Cache Valley while she attended college at UVU, Weber State and USU. She also spent a year coaching the Logan High School Drill Team before the drill program was cut. While coaching drill her team was elected for best sportsmanship! Maile has received various choreography awards and is trained in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical/contemporary hip hop and pom.

Maile is currently a social worker in Utah and keeps herself busy with camping, traveling, working in her garden and spending time with her family. She especially loves going to concerts with her husband! She is excited to continue teaching her passion with her students and loves that dance allows her to use her artistic side and create movement and stories through music. She firmly believes that music and dance are food for the soul, and their influence on our mental and physical well-being is profound!

Sydney’s love of dance started in the Cache Valley Civic Ballet’s Irish dance class at the age of 6. She switched to ballet soon after, taking classes with the CVCB until joining Move To It Dance (later R&M Dance Studios) in middle school. Throughout high school, she had the opportunity to perform in several dance roles in musical productions. During this time she began to experiment with choreography, competing her own solo routines and submitting a group number to the Utah Reflections program. Sydney has been a teacher with R&M since 2021, and loves working with dancers as they grow and improve in the studio and on the competition floor.
