Please welcome our newest teacher Makenna! She will be teaching a lot of our recreational classes this year!

Makenna is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher. She was born and raised in Nampa, Idaho, where her love of dance began. She began training at the age of four in ballet and tap at Kennedy School of Dance. Her love for dance grew over time and she continued dancing all throughout high school, training in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, and pointe. She danced for Skyview high school’s drill team from 2014-2018. Makenna realized that her love of dance was more than just an after-school hobby, but a part of her life that she wanted to explore more. After graduating from high school, Makenna went on to study and receive her bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University Idaho in Dance, with an emphasis in choreography and performance.  During her time at college, she served as a member of the National Dance Society and focused on courses such as kinesiology, dance film, history of dance, choreographic explorations, and yoga where she received her yoga teaching certification. She gained more technique experience in modern, contemporary, footworks, and world dance during her time on both the Collegiate and Alliance Dance Companies on campus.  Makenna’s love for movement, art, and the children that she teaches continues to grow every day. Being able to share the happiness found from this art and see growth in her students is what brings her the most joy.
